Commission considers brownfield redevelopment and reuse of former Catholic church for resilience housing

Sam Lash reviewed the Natural Resources chapter and the town's brownfields material, noting some sites (the former Interstate Uniform site by the high school) have been capped and might be considered for redevelopment with available funding. "There are some fundings available for brownfield re-development," Lash said, urging the commission to explore Phase 1 assessment options.
Commissioners discussed the Catholic Church sale; Dave Traczyk said, "I believe that Chris Dessureau has purchased it," and the group explored possible uses—men's group meetings, bible studies, a community center, or a scaled 'resilience housing' use that could function for everyday services and expand for disaster recovery. Lash suggested contacting Eli Toohey, who runs the Brownfield Program, to look into needs for a Phase 1 assessment.
