Planners map flood-prone buildings, identify bridges and backups for mitigation

Sam Lash of the Chittenden Valley Regional Planning Commission presented hazard maps and a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan worksheet to the Williamstown Planning Commission, reporting that two hazard maps were displayed at a recent road re-vote and that "Mud Season was added to the Hazard assessment list." Lash said CVRPC will input frequency and impact scores for the town to review.
Commissioners and Lash identified specific infrastructure at risk, including the Stevens Branch bridge on Route 14, the bridge on Brook Street by Route 14, and locations north and south off Falls Bridge Road where backups were causing fluvial impacts. Chair Rich Turner and other commissioners asked that those sites be recorded in both the transportation and flood sections of the Town Plan so they can be targeted for mitigation and discussion with the road crew and road manager.
