Selectboard approves limited road access for Billtown Wheelers ATV Club

Gordon Pierie, president of the Billtown Wheelers ATV Club, asked the Williamstown Selectboard on May 11 to permit club members to use defined segments of town roads to connect to existing trails. He told the board he had written permission from 22 of the 25 affected landowners and that the club would notify residents and ensure required insurance and signage were in place.
Scott McCarthy moved that the Selectboard approve the requested road sections so Pierie could pursue State approval; Clayton Woodworth seconded and the motion carried. Town Manager Ryan was asked to sign the paperwork on behalf of the board. The club singled out access corridors that included an approximately 940-foot stretch of Route 14 and about 1,100 feet of Lambert Road to link to trails and to reduce traffic pressure on Sugar House Road.
