Town staff briefed the board on the preliminary tax commitment and a mill-rate calculation completed by Cumberland County Regional Assessment. "Based on the current valuation and budget information, the town can anticipate a mill rate increase of 76¢, which would put the mill rate to $11.01 per thousand of assessed value," the manager reported. Staff characterized the estimate as preliminary and noted overlay and abatement implications under Maine law.
Officials discussed homeowner impacts: staff estimated the average homeowner could see an increase of about $351.29 (or $332.29 with a homestead exemption). Board members asked about business-equipment exemptions and personal-property reporting; staff said those matters are governed primarily by state rules and typical town reporting practices.
