Council adopts budget amendment to reassign fire fleet expenses to the Fire Department

South Weber City Council held a public hearing and then approved a budget amendment to reclassify fire fleet expenditures to the Fire Department.
Staff explained that under GASB Statement No. 34, direct expenses should be reported in the department that incurred them. Currently the Capital Projects Fund (45) reported expenditures for the Fire Department fleet and then transferred funds to Fleet Management (60); staff said "this does not comply with GASB" and recommended moving the expenditures to Fire Department budget (10-57). The public hearing opened with no public comment; Councilman Winsor moved to close the hearing and later moved to approve Resolution 26-04, which the council adopted by roll call vote.
The amendment takes effect per the adopted resolution; staff will adjust departmental reporting to align with GASB requirements.
