Staff reported the city acquired an abandoned beauty salon/alley property that connects to the Hamilton courtyard and said the city will demolish the structure to open a walkway and improve courtyard visibility and safety. "The city acquired it, and they're gonna demolish soon," Tina (speaker 2) said, and staff described plans to relocate the mail room into a more visible hallway and create a walkway that connects to the courtyard.
Staff said engineering is reviewing how to remove the structure and that the change could improve courtyard access and reduce a hidden space that had attracted abandonment. The board discussed potential uses and a guided site tour so members can visualize the courtyard and adjacent parcels.
