District staff urges swift filing after board moved bond to November ballot

Julianne Repman, the district's director of communications and public relations, told the Mukilteo School District board that moving the capital bond to the November ballot accelerated the county filing timeline. "We just approved unanimously to move the bond to the November ballot. And with that comes some county deadlines. And our 1st deadline is Monday, August 4," Repman said.
Repman described the district's outreach for pro/con committee applications as "duplicated" from prior practice and said the turnaround was tight; she told board members the district had advertised on its website and other channels but that the timeline was shorter than earlier cycles. She said that if the district had no applicants at the local level Snohomish County would accept applicants through its online process and appoint representatives.
Board members asked whether the district met the guidance for advertising; Repman said the guidance does not specify a strict minimum and that staff followed the guidance they had. The board agreed staff had met minimum requirements and directed staff to proceed with collecting signatures and filing the statements with the county ahead of the Aug. 4 deadline.
