Peterson family donates monument; council to place Peterson name on park per donation agreement

Staff told council the Peterson family has provided a design and cost estimate for a monument to be placed near the pickleball courts on the property the family donated. Staff said the monument design is within the budget previously set for the donation.
One council member noted that the original donation agreement signed when the family gave the property included language specifying that the Peterson name be included on the park. "The agreement that the city signed when the family donated the property specifically identifies that it would include the name," staff said during discussion. Council discussed monument placement at a park entrance, the committee's prior involvement and next steps to finalize location and fabrication.
No formal vote was taken at the meeting on placement; staff will coordinate final site selection and monument installation details and return to the council with any required approvals or procurement items.
