Highway Superintendent Tony Bernt updated the board on department operations and projects. He said five FEMA projects remain open, tree shredding will resume September 1, and he reported hiring two permanent part-time employees after interviewing four candidates. Bernt noted coordination with West Newman and East Newman Townships on repairs for S 580th from Hwy 14 to S 280th and S 280th to the Merrick County line and that three bridges have been identified as needing replacement.
Bernt also reported work on a ditch along the east side of the road yard along Ida Street in Fullerton and that the city is aware of a clogged storm drain and culvert that need cleaning. He said the department will work with townships on planning and scheduling road repairs.
