Council conducted the first reading of Ordinance No. 2025-004 to authorize the Village Manager to contract with Lebanon Ford for the purchase of one 2025 Ford Explorer police vehicle. Mr. Zack Gallagher moved to have the first reading and Mrs. Connie Miller seconded; the motion passed on a 6-0 roll call.
Chief Gary Copeland answered council questions about equipment and said the quote "included everything needed to equip the vehicle to be a police car, minus the striping." He also said the department rotates older cruisers out on a schedule and that individual officers are assigned vehicles to improve accountability; in the minutes he noted a vehicle typically stays in service about 12 years.
