South Weber City Council voted to accept the audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, after an auditor's presentation and brief questions from council members. Ron Stewart of Gilbert and Stewart CPAs told the council the firm conducted financial-statement testing, internal-control reviews and compliance procedures and concluded the city’s statements "fairly in all material respects" with an unmodified opinion.
Stewart described three audit focus areas — financial statements, internal controls and compliance — and said the firm found the financial statements reliable. He recommended tighter month-end reconciliations and more frequent close procedures so year-end adjustments are reduced. "Some of those procedures, I think, could be done throughout the year to make sure that the information that you're getting throughout the year is more timely and more accurate," Stewart said. City staff told the council staff has drafted responses to the findings. A councilmember moved to accept the audit as presented and the motion passed by voice vote.
