At the May 28 meeting, the Williamstown Cemetery Commission reviewed two written estimates from contractor Mike MacAskill: $9,346.26 for the back fence off Circle Street and $21,255.73 for the lower-section fence, together totaling $30,602 (labor, materials, disposal and equipment rental).
Commissioner Susan Lyons said the commission had previously requested $10,500 for fence work and discussed asking the Trustees for the full amount this year; members contemplated seeking $32,000 to allow padding for extra materials. Chair Matt Couillard and other commissioners discussed inviting Trustees to the June meeting to consider the funding request in person. Commissioners also noted the Trustees board is currently down to two members, which could complicate approvals and prompted the plan to send a written request and attempt to secure a Trustee representative at the June 18 meeting.
The discussion did not produce a formal appropriation at this meeting; the commission agreed to draft a letter requesting funds and to attempt direct outreach to Trustee members before the June meeting.
