Resident warns boardwalk railing may be under code height after rebuild

Resident Mitch Cabello told the council he observed the stainless-steel railing on the rebuilt portion of the boardwalk and worried the bottom horizontal rail is too high, allowing a child to nearly pass underneath. "The bottom rail is way above code ... This is this is at least 18 and about 24 inches off the ground," he said, asking the borough to verify compliance with applicable code before proceeding with the next phase.
Council members acknowledged the concern and said they would check the railing height as they plan the next phase of boardwalk work. The comment framed the issue as a safety check to avoid repeating design errors in upcoming construction stages.
