The Avon Central School Board approved rates and expense rules for impartial hearing officers who serve in due‑process and special education hearings during the 2025–26 year.
The board resolved that certified impartial hearing officers will be compensated at $100 per hour for pre‑hearing, hearing and post‑hearing activities including research and decision writing. Reasonable office expenses and travel time will be reimbursed at $40 per hour; automobile travel will be reimbursed at the district mileage rate; and lodging will be reimbursed up to $80 per night with receipt (or $55 per night without receipt). The district will not pay for hearing dates that are adjourned or canceled when notice is two or more business days.
The motion authorizes the Board President and/or Vice President to appoint hearing officers as needs arise pursuant to Board Policy 7670 and in accordance with the SED rotational list.
