County accepts Smart Growth $15,000 award; can offset Safe Streets match

Staff member (Speaker 6) explained the county's involvement in the Complete Streets Leadership Academy with Smart Growth America and said that Moody and Springville each received $15,000; because one community dropped out, an extra $15,000 was offered to St. Clair County. "They have an extra $15,000 that they would like to give to Saint Clair County," Speaker 6 said.
Staff proposed using the $15,000 toward the $26,000 local match required for a Safe Streets for All demonstration activity. The commission moved and seconded acceptance of the Smart Growth funds and directed staff to forward the grant agreement to County Attorney Kirk for review before final execution.
