Staff member (Speaker 6) informed commissioners that Coosa Valley received a $1,000,000 CDS appropriation tied to an EPA grant and that Coosa Valley will submit an application to accept the award. Speaker 6 said the award requires administrative support the county can provide under existing contracts but that Coosa Valley needs help with writing the grant application and administration. "It takes a long time for them to get in touch with us… we actually have to fill out a grant application and send it in just like you would the differences that we've already received the funds," Speaker 6 said.
Speaker 6 asked whether the commission is willing to help Coosa Valley with administration fees or identify alternate funding for that support. She estimated the administrative cost would likely be "between 5 and $7,000" and promised to get a firm quote for the next meeting. Commissioners did not approve any expenditure at this meeting and asked staff to return with a written estimate and options for covering administration fees.
