"This is a replace as is thing," Danny said while describing lifecycle and maintenance trade-offs between on-premises hardware and cloud services; he argued cloud-based cameras could reduce long-term capital replacement costs and provide integration benefits with a modern door/fob system. The committee discussed which department should house the budget (IT vs. other departments) and whether to prioritize cameras over door fobs given other capital pressures. Danny said the camera solution would cover county facilities and eight EMS-station cameras, though highway cameras remain on a separate contract.
