At the start of the Jan. 6 meeting, planning staff delivered a brief correspondence item reminding applicants and the public to beware of potential fraud attempts tied to permit requests. "Just want to wish the planning commission a happy new year and just give a friendly notice on, a fraud notice again... the village is not going to request any funds or payment for permits via wire," staff said.
Staff urged applicants to verify any payment requests by contacting village planning staff directly and to be on the lookout for suspicious emails that attempt to impersonate the village or request wire transfers or other nonstandard payment channels. The reminder was entered into the record for applicants and will be part of staff outreach materials going forward.
