Village plans Lake Andrea dock for fire‑department access and a rescue watercraft; commissioners raise security concerns

Tab told the commission that a new pier and a permanent dock near the fire station are being evaluated to allow the fire department quicker, routine access to Lake Andrea for emergencies and events. "A need was identified from the fire department to have access to the lake on a more regular basis," Tab said, and staff said approximately half the dock would remain available for public fishing while providing space for the department to dock a secondary rescue boat.
Tab also told commissioners the motor on one rescue boat is failing and staff are considering purchasing a three‑person personal watercraft (jet ski/wave runner) equipped with a backboard and other rescue gear to speed response. Commissioners raised concerns about security and vandalism; one commissioner suggested signage and video surveillance and staff said a trail camera has already been installed and they plan a live camera at the entrance. "We will put a gate up, just kind of a low railing to demarcate between private and public space," Tab said when asked about protecting department equipment.
