Pleasant Prairie honors crews for infant delivery and rare grain-bin rescue

The Village Board recognized fire and rescue personnel for two notable incidents at its Jan. 12 meeting. Village fire leadership described a Sept. 25, 2025 emergency in which crews managed an immediate post-delivery situation in the field and provided a calm, safe environment for mother and newborn.
The board also honored crews who responded to a rare and high-risk grain-bin rescue on Oct. 3, 2025. The chief noted the operation was a low-frequency, high-risk event that required specialized equipment and mutual-aid assistance from Kenosha County and nearby agencies; the Pleasant Prairie crews were the initial entry team that established contact and began the extraction process. Named personnel called forward for recognition included Lieutenant Mark Loyce, Fire Medic Cook, Firefighter/EMT Elrado, Lieutenant Jeff Gunness, Fire Medic Ben Childers and Fire Medic Christopher Peters.
