At the meeting's public-comment period, resident Brett Brandenburg said he reviewed the villages marketing proposal and objected to outsourcing the communications department. He said the RFP text shows the selected firm would replace "3 jobs within the Pleasant Prairie communications department" and questioned the contractor rate of $175 per hour and supplemental expenses.
Brandenburg said the communications team already performs effective outreach and that the village should direct the existing staff rather than hire an outside firm. Trustees and staff acknowledged his concerns; staff reiterated budget constraints and said any negotiated agreement must meet the $348,000 annual budget figure used in the RFP materials.
