Board previews building needs assessment: attendance gains, mobility pockets and expanded screenings

District staff briefed the board on the annual building needs assessment that informs the FY27 budget, highlighting trends and common requests from principals.
"We're starting to see more and more buildings that have a 90% attendance rate," a presenter said, while noting the district mobility rate is approximately 17% overall and some schools (Quincy) still show mobility as high as 47%. Staff credited expanded kindergarten ASQ screening (99.5% of incoming kindergarteners screened) with improving early identification of needs.
Common needs captured in the assessments included requests for mental and behavioral health supports, additional instructional and administrative support, expanded literacy and math interventions, and transportation accessible to students with disabilities. The district also said it will include lists of employees with funding sources in forthcoming materials for board review.
Board members asked about outreach to grandparents and kinship caregivers; staff said guardians are included in family-engagement events and encouraged to join PTO activities.
