Board approves Costco plan to relocate gas pumps, add 133 parking spaces to ease backups on 76th Street

Rob presented a master conceptual plan explaining that Costco is under contract to purchase a 2.8‑acre site at the southwest corner of 88th Avenue and 76th Street to relocate its fueling station off the main warehouse parcel. The plan would expand the warehouse parking by about 133 spaces and provide a 24‑position fueling island (12 pump islands) with redesigned entry/exit geometry; Rob said the relocation is intended to reduce queuing that currently backs onto 76th Street.
Larry Jurjek, Costco's real estate consultant, told the board the design doubles the number of fueling positions to "process those cars more efficiently," and said the reconfigured entrance and a longer throat will reduce backups onto the public road. "This plan completely eliminates any sort of backups onto 76," Jurjek said. Trustees asked detailed questions about turn lanes, bike‑lane removal on 76th Street through the block, wetland impacts and landscaping; after discussion the board approved the conceptual plan on a voice vote.
