Sheffield hires Jon Hornback as code officer and rehires summer mower

Following an executive session on appointment and employment matters, the Village of Sheffield Board voted to hire Jon Hornback as Village Code Officer at $20 per hour and to rehire Anthony Forst for temporary summer mowing by public works at $15 per hour. The hiring motion was moved by Price and seconded by Taylor; roll call AYES: Adams, Corwin, DeVoss, Price, Taylor; motion carried 5-0.
Hornback had been introduced earlier in the meeting as the village's new Code Officer; he said he previously served as a deputy with the Henry County Sheriff's Department and will begin identifying code violations and contacting residents about corrective actions. The executive session, held pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), began at 6:45 pm and closed at 7:25 pm before returning to open session for the hiring votes.
The hires are effective immediately per the motion; hourly rates were recorded in the meeting minutes.
