SSEC report shows fewer incidents in several categories at Jr./Sr. High
Summary
The School Safety & Educational Climate report recorded year-over-year improvements: cyberbullying incidents decreased to zero at the Jr./Sr. High, threats fell from six to two, assaults from one to zero, and drug possession incidents from three to one.
Administrators presented the School Safety & Educational Climate (SSEC) report at the Aug. 26 Byron-Bergen board meeting, recording improvements across reporting categories for the 2024–2025 to 2025–2025 comparison. The Jr./Sr. High saw reported cyberbullying/bullying figures move from previously recorded counts to 0 in the most recent report; other categories also improved: threats (other than bomb or false alarm) decreased from 6 to 2, assaults from 1 to 0, and use/possession of drugs from 3 to 1.
The minutes indicate the elementary SSEC report also improved and showed zeros in reportable categories for 2025–2025. The board received the report as an informational item; no formal motion beyond the recording of the report was required.
