The village approved a proposal for professional engineering services with Christopher B. Burke Engineering to produce Phase 2 design documents for a planned 2027 Mound Road bridge maintenance project. The contract was authorized with a not-to-exceed amount of $58,960 to complete design work.
Public Works staff explained the schedule depends on other bridge projects and inspections; once the engineering study is complete the village will have a more precise cost estimate. "Right now, we're planning close to around $600,000 for that work, 300,000 maintenance work, and then 300,000 approximately for the surfacing of that bridge," a Public Works representative said. The board approved the design contract by roll call and staff noted the project will be budgeted in future years for construction.
