Dr. Bauer, North Penn School District superintendent, told viewers the district’s chief financial officer, Tara BG Houser, has accepted a private-sector opportunity and will leave the district later this year.
"So, unfortunately, our CFO, miss Tara BG Houser, came to me a few weeks ago and said, 'hey, Todd. I am so sorry. This is not gonna be a good meeting,'" Dr. Bauer said, describing Ms. Houser’s decision as an opportunity she felt was best for her family.
Dr. Bauer said the district has an interim plan and that he and Doctor Kim have already begun screening applicants after the job posting closed. He described common notice practices in education — often a 60-day notice period for certificated staff — and said the district hopes to bring a recommendation to the board at its Aug. 20 action meeting. "So the hope would be that we have a recommendation for the board that evening. They vote on it," he said.
The superintendent cautioned that exact start dates depend on the hired candidate’s contractual obligations with a current employer. "Could be more, could be less depending on their agreement with that school district," he said, estimating a likely full hire in mid-to-late October if timelines follow typical notice periods.
The district did not provide the name of an interim appointee at the time of the briefing and said it would announce details when available.
