Interim Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Mrs. Szczerba briefed the board on instructional initiatives April 21, recounting a March 20 presentation on restorative practices by Suzanne Peterson that emphasized strategies such as circles to build connections among students, staff, and families. She noted ongoing work to revise elementary ELA and math curriculum maps to incorporate enhanced writing components and alignment with the new Eureka Math program, and the district's next professional learning day is scheduled for May 18 with a final writing PLC session on May 12.
Mrs. Szczerba also reported the district submitted an extended day grant application with BOCES grant writer Alexia Conrad; if awarded the grant would provide $450,000 annually for five years (a total of $2,250,000). The district expressed appreciation to staff who helped prepare the application and said work will continue to implement curriculum updates and professional learning.
