The board voted to approve three overnight field trips: an outdoor-education trip to Camp Timberly on May 26–27 and Old Orchard Junior High's Science Olympiad state championship in Champaign, Illinois on April 18, 2026.
District staff explained that Policy 6240 requires board approval for overnight trips and noted the Science Olympiad schedule gives limited time for planning, which is why the overnight request was necessary. The superintendent and trustees expressed support for the students' participation and for the educational value of the outdoor-education and competition experiences.
The motion was moved and seconded and passed by roll-call vote recorded during the meeting.
