District 69 to move health plan to Blue Advantage HMO; vision plan offered as employee-paid option

The Board agreed with an Insurance Subcommittee recommendation to move from HMO/Illinois to HMO/Blue Advantage (effective July 1, 2025) to preserve provider access and achieve estimated 7% savings; a vision plan covering glasses/contacts will be offered at employee cost.
The district's Insurance Subcommittee recommended and the Board agreed to move the employee health plan from HMO/Illinois to HMO/Blue Advantage effective July 1, 2025. Administration said the change is projected to save roughly 7% and preserves access to current primary-care physicians for most staff after Advocate ceases to participate in the HMO/Illinois network.
The subcommittee also recommended offering a voluntary vision plan that would cover glasses, contacts and optometry services; the vision plan's cost would be paid by participating employees and requires at least 10 participants to proceed. Administration recommended no changes to dental plan design at this time and proposed additional education for staff to better utilize existing dental benefits.
