District reports I-Ready gains in reading; math growth lags for some subgroups

District administrators presented fall-to-spring I-Ready assessment results showing gains in reading placement and growth. The presenter said reading placement in the "green" category rose from about 38% in the fall to 61% in the spring; vocabulary rose from 33% to 53% and informational-text placements from 37% to 56%. For growth metrics, 67% of students made at least 80% of their typical growth and 42% reached 80% of stretch growth, above the typical 20–30% stretch benchmark.
Board members asked why math results showed smaller changes or declines in some places. The presenter attributed the math lag to curriculum-entry issues for some multilingual learners and an "implementation dip" after bringing back a K–5 math consultant; staff said they will continue professional development and expect improvements in year two. The special-education subgroup prompted targeted follow-up: administrators said they are analyzing building- and grade-level differences and will report back after the July leadership retreat.
