The Village of Lazy Lake Council adopted Ordinance 25-02 on second reading Sept. 24, 2025, updating the village's floodplain management ordinance. The ordinance identifies the effective date of revised flood insurance study and rate maps, updates the definition of "market value," and names the mayor as the Floodplain Administrator.
Councilmember Jeff Grenell moved to approve Ordinance 25-02 on second reading; Councilmember Warren Nadeau seconded and the motion passed 5-0. During discussion, council members noted the operational limits of the Village and said a future interlocal agreement with Broward County could designate the county as Floodplain Administrator for technical administration and permitting oversight.
The ordinance change takes effect as provided in the measure. The Council did not adopt an interlocal agreement at this meeting; members asked staff and counsel to pursue the County discussion and report back at a future meeting.
