Huachuca City receives clean audit for 2024-25; council accepts report

The Huachuca City Council on April 9 accepted the town's fiscal year 2024-25 audit after a presentation from Jennifer Frank, who reported an unmodified (clean) opinion and no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies.
Frank told the council that the town's total net position stood at about $12.3 million and that governmental activities showed an increase in equity of roughly $330,333. She said governmental funds increased by about $544,000 while business-type (utility) activities decreased by roughly $211,000. Frank also noted a capital-asset increase of about $3 million related primarily to the Skyline project and called out a landfill closure/post-closure liability of about $3.8 million. She said revenue growth for the year was driven primarily by contracts with Fort Huachuca.
"Happy to report you had an unmodified clean opinion again this year," Frank said during her presentation. Mayor Johann R. Wallace thanked staff for their work, calling the outcome "a good audit" and adding, "it's actually an excellent audit," before the council moved to accept the report.
Acceptance of the audit was moved and seconded and recorded as passed unanimously in the minutes. The audit documents and the state legal compliance report were made part of the meeting packet for further reference; council did not instruct additional action in the minutes beyond acceptance.
