Huachuca City council schedules April work session to study possible annexations

Mayor Johann Wallace said the council would take a closer look at potential annexation after staff presented options for land north along Highway 90 and parcels in the 400 and 500 blocks of Lower Huachuca City. "I wanted this back on the agenda so we can get a work session scheduled and really get into it and see what we are looking at," Mayor Johann Wallace said.
Town Manager Suzanne Harvey told the council staff can evaluate the costs of extending water, sewer and other municipal services, gauge property owners' interest in becoming Town residents, and identify benefits for existing residents. Council members agreed to hold a work session on April 2, 2026, at 6 p.m. to focus on those assessments. Harvey said the review should include service-extension costs, grant or funding opportunities, and community engagement steps before any formal annexation ordinance would be drafted.
