Summary
Town Manager Suzanne Harvey asked the council to authorize submitting Congressionally directed spending requests for a $1.3 million CPF request toward a ladder fire truck (total purchase estimated at about $1.5 million with a local match of $200,000——$300,000) and for water-meter upgrades; council approved submitting both requests and prioritized the fire truck.

Town Manager Suzanne Harvey told the council she submitted a Congressionally directed (CPF) request to Representative Juan Ciscomanis office for $1.3 million toward a ladder fire truck and asked permission to submit the same request to Senator Mark Kellys office to increase the towns chances of success. She said the truck purchase would total about $1.5 million after a local match estimated at $200,000——$300,000.
"I submitted to Congressman Ciscomani a CPF request for $1.3 million for a ladder truck; our match for that would be approximately $200,000 to $300,000," Harvey said, explaining the submission timeline and federal and USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Program requirements for matching funds if the town is selected. She also asked to include a request for water-meter upgrades as a second priority. Council approved the submission and prioritized the fire truck over the meter upgrades in a unanimous vote. Harvey advised that, if funded, matching funds would likely be provided across two fiscal years and that procurement and delivery would follow federal/program rules and lead times for apparatus orders.
Council discussion noted the public-safety importance of replacing aging apparatus and the long procurement timeframe for specialty fire vehicles. The motion authorizes staff to pursue both submissions and to prioritize the ladder truck in application materials.
