Mayor Johann R. Wallace performed the first reading of Ordinance 2026-04 on Jan. 22, which would amend multiple sections of Title 6 of the Town Code concerning animals. The proposed changes address license and vaccination expirations, remove references related to the town's former animal shelter, adjust impoundment and adoption provisions, and revise rules on keeping chickens and on animal traps.
The ordinance was introduced as a first reading; the council did not adopt it at this meeting. The presentation listed Police Department and Town Attorney involvement; staff will provide additional materials and schedule subsequent readings as needed.
