Selectboard hears building-use update; workgroup to hold public meetings on School building future

Bruce Mello, the Building Commissioner, told the Selectboard that the School building needs heat-pump and boiler maintenance, cleaning, and pest control for powder-post beetles and carpenter ants. He said recent discussions with potential renters found the Windham Central Supervisory Union declined the space. Mello recommended a title search on the Town Office property but said the Building Use Workgroup prioritized working on an easement issue instead; MD and EB volunteered to follow up on the easement.
The Workgroup plans to invite the public to its August 18 meeting to present plans and receive feedback, then hold a Saturday meeting at 10 a.m. on Sept. 12. The Selectboard also discussed planning for future appraisals and potential Board of Civil Authority membership increases to five to handle property grievances.
