Public Works Describes Greystone Spraying Changes, Paving and Park Repairs

Public Works Director Darold Wendlandt addressed resident concerns about recent browning along rights-of-way and said Greystone representatives met with city staff to explain a change in herbicide product and a switch from mist to spot spraying. Wendlandt said Greystone told staff the company now cuts the right-of-way every three years (previously every four to five) and that the next cut will be in 2027.
"The product is not Round-Up," Wendlandt said during his remarks, adding the company described the spray as aquatic-friendly. He also said Greystone agreed to allow city banners on power poles and offered excess hardwood to residents for firewood. Wendlandt encouraged residents with concerns to expect a brochure and a joint approach to future right-of-way trimming.
Wendlandt also provided a project update: paving and striping at City Hall is complete, staff leveled and seeded shoulders, HVAC replacement in council chambers will proceed via RFP and contractor bids, the Rico Park ballfield fence will be repaired and painted, and Crossroads subdivision paving proceeded after resident notification and vehicle enforcement to clear the roadway for work.
Councilmembers thanked staff for rapid outreach to residents and for convening Greystone representatives to address questions about spraying practices.
