Julie Wyatt, principal planner for the city of Denton, told the Planning and Zoning Commission on Feb. 11 that staff has moved the Denton 2040 comprehensive‑plan actions into a new monitoring tool called Invisio to better track progress and improve transparency. "The Denton 2040 comprehensive plan gives us a roadmap for how the city can achieve the vision that the community has established," Wyatt said, describing a translation effort that split previously summarized actions into 546 discrete, monitorable items.
Wyatt said the new approach assigns short, medium, long and ongoing timeframes and gives departments a structured way to report on specific steps. Staff reported roughly 73% of actions include recorded work when combining ongoing and short/medium/long actions, but Wyatt cautioned that earlier one‑page summaries in the meeting packet were not always precise and that detailed departmental backup remains the authoritative source. Commissioners pressed staff on measurement differences and timing; Wyatt and other planning staff said the system will be refined and that the next comprehensive update is likely on a 5–7 year horizon.
