Chippewa Strikers and Lake Hallie parks board form subcommittee after billing and field-use dispute

At a Feb. 23 special meeting, the Chippewa Strikers raised complaints about delayed water bills that included late fees and about outside field use; the Parks Board appointed a subcommittee of three members to review billing, contracts, maintenance and storage requests and will report back in March.
At a special Parks, Recreation and Tourism Commission meeting on Feb. 23, 2026, Ryan Normand, representing the Chippewa Strikers, told the board the organization had received only one water bill so far this year and that the bill included late fees. The Strikers asked the board to pursue more timely billing and to consider contract changes to make responsibilities fairer compared with the boys and girls programs.
The board appointed a subcommittee of Becky Squires, Kent Stelter and Mark Danielson to review the Strikers' concerns and report at the March meeting. Kent Stelter, a Parks Board member, said the fields were fertilized three times in 2025; he also agreed to look into the Strikers' billing complaint. The meeting was called to order under Chapter 19.84 of the Wisconsin State Statutes at 5:00 p.m. and adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
