County approves Sourcewell-procured HVAC control retrofit for three buildings at $208,758.47

Facilities Capital Project Manager Tom Boege presented a proposal to replace obsolete HVAC controls at three county facilities using a Sourcewell-Gordian procurement and Peterson Sheet Metal as the vendor. Boege said the new system will include cloud-based monitoring, remote climate-control capabilities, three years of service, and hardware with an estimated 20-year lifespan; installation was scheduled to begin in 2026 with vendor transition effective Jan. 1, 2027.
The Board approved contract MN-R3-E-102825-PSM for $208,758.47 and a 2026 budget amendment of $208,750 to the Buildings and Grounds capital outlay budget, funded from the county’s unassigned fund balance. Boege said projected five-year savings from reduced maintenance costs could be redirected to future HVAC mechanical repairs; the Board authorized the Facilities Capital Project Manager to sign the contract on the County’s behalf.
