The City Council approved a $29,000 contract to construct a 24-by-24 metal storage building behind the fire station to store newly acquired equipment, including a rescue boat and an all-terrain UTV.
Chief Brett described the request as a sealed-bid purchase recommended as the most responsible and affordable option. "The the request of city council is for the approval of a $29,000 contract with Riley with Riley Contract Incorporated of Senoia, Georgia to construct 24 by 24 PMB metal storage building on the property immediately behind, the fire station for the purpose of having a place to store additional equipment," he told the council.
Council moved, seconded and approved the item unanimously. Chief Brett confirmed the procurement was handled through the formal RFP/bid process under the direction of the city clerk, finance officer and city manager, and that bids were opened and evaluated by staff before the recommendation.
The contract will allow the fire department to store and protect equipment needed for park rescue and water response; staff did not identify additional funding sources beyond the approved budget authority for the purchase at the meeting.
