A staff member told the council the city has used Fulton County to administer its municipal elections for the last two cycles and that the county is proposing to run the Nov. 4 election at no cost.
"the proposal is to run, the city elections at no cost," the staff member said, while noting a cost would apply if a runoff election becomes necessary. Council members asked clarifying questions about candidate numbers and runoff contingencies but did not oppose moving forward with the county-administered election. The arrangement would coincide with the county's public service commissioner election on Nov. 4.
The council did not vote on the item during this session; staff and councilmembers treated the presentation as informational and directed staff to proceed with the usual administrative steps to document the IGA for the agenda book and upcoming meeting materials.
