Parks director warns of cash-flow strain; commissioners request 5-year fund review

"We're using our unappropriated cash that we have, to fund these, and that's what it's therefore, we've always tried to save for days like this," the director said, explaining the department's reliance on a nonreverting fund to smooth uneven revenue.
Commissioners asked for a five-year picture of the fund to detect patterns; parks staff agreed to compile historical revenue and expense data. The board did not vote on additional appropriations during the discussion, and staff said they would return with the requested analysis for the budget process.
