Engineers warn permitting and seasonal windows matter for beach nourishment

On timing, Jennifer urged action within appropriate seasonal windows for nourishment and dune establishment, saying the December 2023'January 2024 storms underscored urgency. "The sooner we nourish the beach, the more resilient we'll be," she said, while also noting there are limited seasons when nourishment is permitted to protect wildlife.
The team said permitting time and agency conditions will be built into next-phase schedules and that designs may be adjusted to meet regulatory requirements.
