Consultants say bathhouse platform needs major work; cabanas questioned as priority

Martha of DBVW described a structural and drainage problem with the concrete platform under the bathhouses and said addressing it would require adding material and likely lifting or removing the bathhouses. "So under any scenario, the bathhouses would have to be either picked up or removed altogether," she said, and noted that fixing the platform is a significant investment.
During Q&A participants asked whether cabanas were included in any preferred scenarios; consultants said cabanas were explored early but did not rank high in workshop preference. The team noted cabanas are leased to a limited group of people and therefore not universally available, which raised equity questions for some attendees.
Consultants suggested preserving elements of the rotunda as a shell or gathering space may be possible in lower-cost forms, but emphasized these are conceptual ideas and that prioritization (restrooms, lifeguards, concessions) emerged as higher immediate priorities from workshop participants.
