Owner representative Emily Wisler told the council she was available to answer questions and described plans for an indoor facility with a larger buffer for neighbors. Neighbors including Elena Hernández and Rose Ryan said the rezoning would change the area’s low‑density residential character, increase nighttime traffic and noise, and could lead to large areas of impermeable pavement and tree removal. Ryan said the neighborhood is “99 por 100 de residencial de baja densidad,” warned about habitat and flood concerns and asked the council to preserve the residential character.
Councilmember Gabán acknowledged those concerns and said additional public‑works work and conditions would be necessary to mitigate flooding and impermeable cover issues. The council approved the items with stated conditions and asked the applicant and neighbors to continue working with staff and the neighborhood association; the motion passed after a second and roll call.
