The council continued consideration of a special-use permit request for auto paint and body repair at 12139 Jones Smaltzberger Road until Aug. 20, 2026.
Owner Zach Salazar of Busy Bee Collision described the shop's voluntary approach to compliance and filtration for the spray booth and asked the council to reconsider a previously denied permit. "We came to the city on our own accord because we wanted to make everything the right way," Salazar said, noting the business supports five employees.
Council discussion included a motion to deny the items on behalf of an absent member, followed by a motion from another councilmember to continue the item to Aug. 20 to allow the applicant to work with the council member and neighbors. The motion to continue carried; staff and the applicant were directed to seek additional feedback and possible changes before the next hearing date.
