County authorizes demolition for parking as part of Wells Fargo office renovation project

County CEO Bill Everett told the Commission the county owns the lot next to the renovated Wells Fargo building and plans to demolish a dilapidated structure to create needed parking for the relocated Financial and Health Department. Commissioners voted 5‑0 to authorize removal and tear down of the old health department building on Commercial Street to prepare a parking lot for the county's new office.
Everett said multiple contractors are preparing bids and that demolition and asphalt work must occur before winter; the larger office renovation is estimated at about $1,000,000 and the county aims to occupy the building by March 2027. “The goal is to have us in there and operational in March of 2027,” Everett said, adding the county will store salvageable furniture temporarily and proceed with architectural planning.
