Santee board adopts 2025 legislative goals, prioritizing full funding for federal and state programs

Superintendent Dr. Kristin Baranski presented the Board’s legislative goals for 2025, noting the goals had been reviewed at a prior meeting and were presented without changes. The goals call for seeking full funding for formula‑based federal programs including Title programs and special education, restoring or fully funding Impact Aid to support military families, maintaining the national school lunch program, increasing base LCFF funding rather than creating new categorical programs, pursuing a specialized educational cost‑of‑living index, restructuring K‑14 energy costs to encourage renewables, creating and funding statewide workforce training, and seeking relief from PERS increases outside of Proposition 98 allocations.

Board members agreed administration should be prepared to share the goals with legislators at upcoming appointments in Sacramento and Washington, D.C.
